Erik Huber is a Clinician for this non-profit Organization. Headstrong is specifically designed for post-9/11 combat veterans. We treat the hidden wounds that can be healed (anxiety, depression, sleep disorders, PTSD, addictions and anger management). The services provided include a psyche evaluation performed by a psychiatrist, medication as needed and therapy for as long as the client needs it. All of these services are at NO CHARGE to the veteran. You can find more information at www.getheadstrong.org.
EMDR is a form of psychotherapy that was developed by Francine Shapiro to resolve trauma-related disorders caused by accumulated life stressors, as well as exposure to distressing events (i.e., rape, military combat, motor vehicle accidents or other life-threatening experiences).
According to Shapiro's theory, when a traumatic or distressing experience occurs, it may overwhelm usual thought processes and/or coping mechanisms. The goal of EMDR therapy is to process these distressing memories, reduce their lingering influence and allow clients to develop more adaptive coping mechanisms.
